The manner the pin was normally worn was like this:
http://ohiowheelmen.org/temporary/Maccabees-Ribbon.JPG

In the event of a funeral observance, the ribbon portion was reversed to reveal the black reverse side.
http://ohiowheelmen.org/temporary/MaccabeesFuneralVersion.jpg
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27226233.post-14219540504898246112023-03-28T15:47:51.926-04:002023-03-28T15:47:51.926-04:00Gibsonburg had a hive and sported a band in a pict...Gibsonburg had a hive and sported a band in a picture I saw in about 1916Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27226233.post-11114879489425598962022-04-14T18:24:19.246-04:002022-04-14T18:24:19.246-04:00I bought a Knights of Maccabees ribbon in an antiq...I bought a Knights of Maccabees ribbon in an antique shop in Ashland, Ohio today and was researching the background when I found this article. This ribbon is about 7" tall. I am not a Maccabee, but will use this in period re-enactments.

http://ohiowheelmen.org/temporary/Maccabees-Ribbon.JPG
Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18302558391460852685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27226233.post-21193882005674851752021-06-21T17:00:31.988-04:002021-06-21T17:00:31.988-04:00The library does not have records of the Maccabees...The library does not have records of the Maccabees organization, and there does not seem to be many of those records available, other than some records from Michigan, held at the Detroit Public Library. As far as personal information for Mr. Matthes, you should be able to find some via genealogy sites such as Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org. (Some of these sites require subscriptions, but many public libraries offer free access.) Here is some information from the Find a Grave website: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/131970114/fred-w-matthes.Sandusky Library Archives Research Centerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02846774131566300889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27226233.post-3166746204141541082021-06-15T16:24:07.820-04:002021-06-15T16:24:07.820-04:00My great-grandfather, Fred W.
