ReplyDeleteAfter I posted this, I realized I should have explained the document. It is the record of judgment against Rush Sloane in a suit by a slave owner who alleged that Sloane improperly allowed the slave to go free. A transcript:

F. Weimer, the above Plaintiff
bearing date Dec. 14th, 1854, for three thousand
dollars acknowledging full satisfaction
of the above judgment, except the costs-
Also receipt of L.F. Weimer, Sr. per
Joseph Doniphan Atty for eighty five dollars
the amount of Plaintiff's witness fees in
said case- Also certificates of Defend-
ant's witnesses in above case for one
hundred and sixty two dollars. Also
twenty dollars in money, the Attorney's docket
fees attached- which, with the Clerk and
Marshals fees heretofore paid is in full
of the costs in said case.
