Cable subscribers could have access to more
channels, better reception, and no need for an antenna, according to the
brochure from the cable company.
An informational exhibit from Washington and Lee University, states
that in 1978 were 72,900,000 American households with televisions. The top four
television programs in 1978 included Laverne and Shirley, Three’s Company, Mork

As recently as the early 1980s, it was possible to receive many channels with a good antenna. My family lived in Marblehead and we had a rotator on the antenna, and could easily pick up the stations from Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, as well as channel 9 from Canada. I am curious what is possible with the switch to digital signals and all of the subchannels that exist today.
